Nuru is private by architecture, not just policy. Your material is processed on your device by default — and anything that reaches the cloud is opt-in, shown to you first, and stripped of everything we don't strictly need.

On-device by default
Flashcards, practice questions, and concept maps are built right on your iPhone with Apple's on-device AI. Link summaries and your Morning Brief are on-device only — they never use the cloud at all.
Cloud AI only when you ask
The cloud route is Pro-only and stays off until you turn it on — then it confirms every time, showing you the exact text before anything leaves your phone.
Nothing of yours in our logs
The app never holds AI keys or talks to Claude directly. Requests pass through Nuru's proxy, whose usage log is built with nowhere to record your notes — only token counts and timing.
Locked to your account
Row-level security means your account is the only one that can read your data — enforced on every request. Everything is encrypted in transit and at rest.
No passwords — Sign in with Apple
Skip password databases entirely. Use Apple's Hide My Email if you'd rather not share your address — or skip the account and work fully offline.
Diagnostics on your terms
Usage analytics stay off until you allow them, and crash reporting can be switched off anytime. Both identify you only by a one-way hashed ID, with an automatic filter that scrubs emails, numbers, and other identifiers. Sign out and Nuru clears its data from the device.
Delete your account, completely
Delete Account re-verifies you with Apple, revokes Nuru's Apple sign-in, then erases every file and row on the server and wipes the app from your device. No support ticket, no waiting.
Export everything, anytime
Ask for your data and Nuru builds a complete ZIP — every note, card, and photo — behind a private link that only you can open, then expires on its own.
You hold the switches
Saved-link sync is off until you turn it on. Cloud AI is off until you turn it on. And you can wipe just your cloud data while keeping everything on your device.
